Causes of proteinura include:

- glomerulonephritis

- diabetes
- hypertension
- amyloid
- Extra-renal causes
- fever
- exercise
- psoriasis
- pregnancy
Orthostatic proteinuria is proteinuria which disappears when recumbant. The cause of this is unknown but it is felt to be benign.
